Leopoldo San Miguel Arrambide, MD

Dr. Sanmiguel obtained his degree as a general physician in 1981 from the School of Medicine from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León and studied his specialty in anesthesia at Hospital Juárez of the Ministry of Health, Mexico City and at the University Hospital of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León from 1983 – 1986. Later on, he studied his sub-specialty in pain management at the General Hospital of the Ministry of Health, Mexico City from 1986 – 1987.

He worked as anesthesiologist at the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) and at the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores (ISSSTE) in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico from 1989 – 1998.

He is a member of the Mexican Federation of Anesthesiology since 1998, as well as of the Tijuana College of Anesthesiologists since 1995 where he was president in 2012 and 2013.

​

He provides his services for humanitarian purposes at international clinics for the surgical correction of cleft lip and cleft palate, and after-effects of poliomyelitis.

​

He has currently participated in more than 8,000 bariatric surgeries, where his main interest is to stay updated, always be present in academic events as a speaker and modulator, also in his on-going education as an anesthesiologist, participating in multiple workshops in order to always offer the best patient care.
